Lust Is Your Enemy – Don’t Make Peace With It

Lust is not your friend. Lust is your enemy. It creeps into your heart quietly, like a shadow in the dark, whispering lies, making promises it can’t keep. It presents itself as harmless, maybe even natural, but in the end, it comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. One of the greatest deceptions many people fall into is treating lust like a companion instead of an adversary. We excuse it. We make room for it. We say, “It’s not that serious,” or “At least I’m not acting on it.” But here’s the truth: lust tolerated becomes lust empowered. And lust empowered will lead you down a path of corruption, shame, and spiritual death. The Bible is clear— “Make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires” (Romans 13:14). We are not to pamper our sin. We are not to feed it snacks and hope it won’t bite us. Lust does not play fair. It grows in secret and strikes in the open. If you don’t deal with it, it will deal with you. Don’t Give the Devil a Foothold Paul writes in Ephesians 4:27, “...

The Parable of the Wedding Banquet: A Powerful Lesson on True Salvation

The Bible is full of parables that illustrate deep spiritual truths, and one of the most profound is the Parable of the Wedding Banquet found in Matthew 22:1-14 . This parable, told by Jesus, reveals God's invitation to His Kingdom, the rejection of that invitation by many, and the importance of being spiritually prepared. In this blog, we will break down the meaning of this parable, its key lessons, and how it applies to us today. We will also explore the significance of the man who arrived at the banquet without proper wedding garments and what this symbolizes for believers. Understanding the Parable of the Wedding Banquet In Matthew 22:1-14, Jesus describes a king who prepares a grand wedding feast for his son. Invitations are sent out to selected guests, but they refuse to come. Some make excuses, while others mistreat and kill the king’s messengers. In response, the king punishes those who rejected the invitation and extends it to anyone his servants can find—both good an...

Coveting in the Age of Social Media: A Biblical and Modern Perspective

Coveting is an age-old struggle, explicitly warned against in the Ten Commandments: “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor” (Exodus 20:17). While biblical stories recount the downfall of kings who succumbed to coveting, today’s digital world has intensified this temptation. Social media, with its endless display of curated perfection, has become a powerful tool that fuels desires for what others have—be it relationships, wealth, or lifestyles. The Devil: The Father of Lies The Bible warns that Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44). He distorts reality and deceives people into believing that what they see on social media is the ultimate standard of happiness and success. Through this deception, coveting has become more rampant than ever before. The enemy uses social media to: Twist the truth – Making people believe that they are not ...

Coveting in the Bible: Case Studies of King David and King Ahab

Coveting, or an intense desire for something that belongs to another, is a sin warned against in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:17). The Bible provides several examples of coveting leading to tragic consequences, notably in the lives of King David and King Ahab. These two kings of Israel demonstrate how unchecked desire can lead to moral failure, divine judgment, and national consequences. Case Study 1: King David and Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11-12) The Sin of Coveting King David, a man after God's own heart (1 Samuel 13:14), succumbed to covetousness when he saw Bathsheba bathing. Despite already having multiple wives, David desired Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite. His coveting led him to commit adultery and orchestrate Uriah’s death in battle to cover up his sin. Consequences Nathan the prophet confronted David, delivering a parable that exposed his wrongdoing (2 Samuel 12:1-7). As punishment, God decreed that the sword would never depart from David’s house, his child ...

The Seven Things the Lord Hates: A Biblical Warning from Proverbs 6

Did you know that the Bible specifically lists things that God hates ? While God is full of love, mercy, and grace, He also hates sin—especially certain behaviors and attitudes that lead to destruction. In Proverbs 6:16-19 , we find a clear warning about seven abominations that the Lord detests. These are not just random sins but actions that corrupt hearts, harm others, and oppose God's righteousness. **“These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.”** (Proverbs 6:16-19, NKJV) Let's explore what each of these means, why God detests them, and how we can avoid them in our daily lives. 1. A Proud Look (Pride & Arrogance) What It Means: Pride is an exaggerated sense of self-importance —thinking too highly of oneself and looking down on others...
