Jesus encourages vigilance and readiness in Luke 12:35-40. He compares His return to a master coming home unexpectedly. Like a diligent servant, we must keep our spiritual lamps lit, living in obedience and avoiding sin. Being watchful means staying faithful and prepared at all times, constantly examining our lives and making corrections as needed. It is a call to live every day as though Jesus could return at any moment.

7. Be a Faithful Servant

In Luke 12:42-47, Jesus highlights the importance of faithfulness. A faithful servant fulfills their duties diligently, while an unfaithful servant neglects them. This parable reminds us of the accountability we have to God for how we live our lives and use the resources He has entrusted to us. Faithfulness involves consistent prayer, serving others, and standing firm in faith despite challenges. It is through obedience and perseverance that we demonstrate our commitment to God’s Kingdom.

8. Understand the Times

Recognizing the signs of the times is crucial. In Matthew 12:54-56, Jesus rebukes the crowd for their inability to discern spiritual realities despite interpreting weather patterns. Understanding the spiritual significance of current events helps us stay alert and focused on God’s plan. This requires wisdom, discernment, and a deep knowledge of Scripture. By staying informed and prayerfully considering the world around us, we can better align our actions with God’s purposes.
